The Acorn Pages were made for busy parents and tutors who want to guide their children through early studies.
Whether for the 7+ exam or for general advancement ahead of their cohort, we are here for your child's success.
Our Founder
Hannah - Founder & Author
As an experienced teacher, but also an experienced student, I have only known information to be truly fascinating, but only when understood and enjoyable. After years of work as a tutor who did everything to make sure my tutees looked forward to our lessons and enjoyed learning, I created The Acorn Pages.
Approach
So how do we do things?
Children learn through simplicity and fun.
We have made our educational books with a storybook element, featuring characters that our students can follow and progress with. So our students can look forward to lessons and enjoy the journey of learning. We also considered retention, how do we get children to absorb information and remember it all? The answer to this was our consolidation pages.
Retention
Memory is about spaced repetition, building and story. What does this actually mean?
Spaced repetition is the well known concept of repeated practice separated by time; this concept is backed by science. Building is our concept of not being able to learn something new without having learnt its precursor. For example, you cannot understand column addition without knowing addition of single digit numbers, hence the consolidation of single number addition is enforced through column addition. And story simply means having something to follow, a journey and a meaning.
